Meditating on Philippians 3:10-13 will show us Paul's contentment despite the fact that he is writing this book while he is imprisoned, addressed to the most supportive church in Paul's ministry, the Philippians Church.
Secret of Contentment
v.10 - BEING GLAD IN THE PROGRESS OF OTHERS
Despite being in a prison, Paul did not envy any free man, he did not feel bad about he, being the teacher of the Philippians, is in prison, while his students have a better situation than him. Instead, he is glad about the progress on their faith.
If you are not glad in the progress of your brethren, then you have a big problem obtaining contentment in life.
v.11 - BEING GLAD OF WHAT IS THERE IS
Be glad of what God has given you and don't murmur for the things He didn't. He promised to provide all your needs. If that is what He has given, it is what you need. Keep that in mind.
v.12 - NOT COMPLAINING IN ANYTHING
Complaint is a faith eraser. Every single time a person does this, he puts himself in a place where his faith can't operate. What benefit can you get when you complain? Nothing. What it does is to sprout more doubt in you. Instead of doing that, focus on being thankful. There is no doubt in a thankful heart.
v.13 - KNOWING WHO IS YOUR SOURCE OF STRENGTH
Ultimately, the secret of contentment is knowing that Jesus is by your side. What else can you ask for?
God bless us all!
